Roman Amphitheatre Lecce's ancient amphitheatre was built by Romans who occupied the land after ousting the Greeks a few hundred years earlier. Dating from 200 AD, the amphitheatre was unearthed during construction for a new bank in 1938. The massive structure, which could once hold 20,000 people and stood five storeys tall, remains half-buried by coffe shops and cafes. Address: Piazza Sant Oronzo Lecco LE Italy
