Colonna di Sant'Oronzo This enormous column once stood with its partner at the end of Via Appia in Brindisi. Completed by the Romans, Via Appia led straight from Rome to the port in Brindisi, and remains a major transportation route in use today. The column was presented to Lecce in thanks to their patron saint, Sant'Oronzo, for releasing Brindisi from a horrible plague in 1666. Address: Piazza Sant'Oronzo Lecce LE Italy
